7 Stages of Air Force Boot Camp Schedule
Welcome to Air Force Boot Camp
Air Force Boot Camp, also known as Basic Military Training (BMT), is a 7-8 week training program designed to transform civilians into Airmen. The training is physically and mentally demanding, but it’s an essential step in preparing new recruits for life in the Air Force. In this post, we’ll break down the 7 stages of Air Force Boot Camp schedule and what to expect during each phase.
Stage 1: In-Processing (Days 1-2)
The first stage of Air Force Boot Camp is In-Processing, which takes place over the first two days of training. During this phase, new recruits will:
- Arrive at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas
- Complete initial paperwork and medical screenings
- Receive their uniforms and equipment
- Meet their Military Training Instructors (MTIs)
- Learn the basics of Air Force protocol and procedures
🚨 Note: Recruits will be given a haircut and will begin to adapt to the military lifestyle during this phase.
Stage 2: Red Phase (Days 3-14)
The Red Phase is the most intense phase of Air Force Boot Camp. During this stage, recruits will:
- Learn the fundamentals of the Air Force, including its history and core values
- Begin physical training, including running, push-ups, and sit-ups
- Start learning drill and ceremony procedures
- Receive training on the Air Force’s warrior ethos and combat skills
- Take the first physical fitness assessment (PFA)

Stage 3: White Phase (Days 15-28)
In the White Phase, recruits will continue to build on the skills they learned in the Red Phase. During this stage, they will:

- Receive training on first aid and emergency response
- Start learning about the Air Force’s career fields and specialties
- Take the second PFA

Stage 4: Blue Phase (Days 29-42)
In the Blue Phase, recruits will start to focus on more advanced skills and training. During this stage, they will:

- Receive training on the use of the M-4 rifle
- Start learning about the Air Force’s core values and leadership principles
- Take the third PFA

Stage 7: Graduation (Day 63)
The final stage of Air Force Boot Camp is Graduation. During this stage, recruits will:

- Receive their Air Force diploma
- Say goodbye to their MTIs and fellow recruits
- Begin their transition into the operational Air Force
