To become an Infantryman, you’ll need to complete Basic Combat Training (BCT) and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at the Infantry School at Fort Benning, Georgia.
2. Indirect Fire Infantryman (11C)
Indirect Fire Infantrymen are responsible for providing indirect fire support to Infantry units. As an Indirect Fire Infantryman, you’ll be responsible for:
- Operating and maintaining mortars, howitzers, and other indirect fire systems
- Conducting reconnaissance and surveillance to identify enemy positions
- Providing fire direction and control to Infantry units
To become an Indirect Fire Infantryman, you’ll need to complete BCT and AIT at the Infantry School at Fort Benning, Georgia.
3. Special Forces Weapons Sergeant (18B)
Special Forces Weapons Sergeants are part of the Army’s Special Forces, also known as the Green Berets. As a Special Forces Weapons Sergeant, you’ll be responsible for:
- Conducting unconventional warfare, foreign internal defense, and direct action missions
- Operating and maintaining various types of military equipment, including small arms, grenade launchers, and communications equipment
- Providing training and guidance to foreign military forces
To become a Special Forces Weapons Sergeant, you’ll need to complete BCT, AIT, and the Special Forces Qualification Course at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
4. Infantry Senior Sergeant (11Z)
Infantry Senior Sergeants are senior enlisted leaders who have extensive experience in the Infantry. As an Infantry Senior Sergeant, you’ll be responsible for:
- Leading and training Infantry units
- Conducting operations planning and execution
- Providing guidance and mentorship to junior soldiers
To become an Infantry Senior Sergeant, you’ll need to have significant experience in the Infantry and complete the Advanced Leader Course at the Infantry School at Fort Benning, Georgia.
5. Ranger (75R)
Rangers are part of the Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment, a special operations unit that conducts airborne and light infantry operations. As a Ranger, you’ll be responsible for:
- Conducting airborne operations, including parachuting and air assault
- Conducting light infantry operations, including reconnaissance and combat maneuvers
- Providing training and guidance to junior soldiers
To become a Ranger, you’ll need to complete BCT, AIT, and the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program at Fort Benning, Georgia.
